We are about one week away from starting our calving season. We have about 90 mother cows to calve out this spring and then about 7 will calve in the fall. It's just me and my Farmer, so calving season can be very tiring and stressful. When the cows start calving, we usually try and check on them at least every 3 hours. Besides helping during the day, I usually do the midnight check.

Beauty Sleep and other necessities.............
Evidently my body thought I should be plowing snow this morning, cuz it is 4:00a.m. and I am wide awake. Looked outside and there is only around 1 inch of new snow on the ground. So NO, body, I do not need to be awake!! So after trying for an hour to go back to sleep, it's to the computer I must go. And I have new followers!! I am so excited!! Thanks for following. So, back to the sleep thing. I really like my sleep. I need my sleep. I think I really always took the phrase "beauty sleep" literally. If I do not get my sleep, I am not a beautiful person.

Is It Spring Yet?
Yesterday was such a beautiful day. Spring time weather is just amazing. ( I know that we are not actually into spring yet here in the central Idaho mountains, but it makes us feel better to think that we are.) Last weekend we wouldn't go outside without the normal seven layers of winter clothing on and yesterday evening my farmer was feeding the cows in just his t-shirt ( and pants, of course). Well, since it was such a warm day, the "farming bug" started to awaken in my farmer. He just had to connect with some dirt. His "cabin fever" was starting to settle in (meaning::....the feeling that winter will never end).
