CHOOSE BEEF.................

Herding the "chosen one" towards the trailer.
I LOVE 4-H.   We have been involved with 4-H as members, parents and leaders.  The 4-H program has so much to offer, from animal projects to just about anything  you want to learn about.  One program that we have been involved with for many years is the market beef project.
My Farmer took beef in 4-H when he was younger, and both our boys did the same. This year we had 2 girls buy steers from us for their 4-H project, which is our way of staying involved, on a smaller scale, but yet still involved.  Last Saturday was our county's 4-H market beef weigh-in.  So Saturday was spent loading the animals for the first time in the trailers, taking them down to be weighed, then they were taken to their new homes.  And actually the day was pretty uneventful.  And believe me, thru the years we have had some pretty "eventful" weigh in days!  But those stories are for another day.  This is about the girls.  For those of you that are not familiar with the program, these girls will spend all summer feeding, taming, and grooming their steers.  By the time the fair comes along, they will have steers that are clean & trimmed, tame enough to lead around the show ring, and taught to "stand" just right for the judge, and that is no easy task! But that is not all these girls will learn.  They will learn so many life skills being involved in the program, and a lot of this knowledge will not be realized until well into their young adults lives.
B Looking over the "chosen ones"
We will be watching these girls all summer and I'll keep you posted on their progress.  Hopefully one of them will win Grand Champion!  But that's left up to the judge, and no matter what, in our eyes, the girls are already champs.

Yup, that's the one
