Well, it's official, we are calving! The first one was born a week ago, (and by the way, I did call this one....YES!!)(see ready, set, calve) and all is well with him, and then today we had 3 born. The little break in between was good, cuz it allowed us time to get things ready that weren't. We had to bring her into the corral with the calf so we could make sure that he had eaten, and of course, she is not a real calm cow and wasn't sure she liked our idea of coming to the corral. So it was a test to see if things were set and we had our system down. Which we did, kind of. We, or I should say the cow, found one weak place in the fence, which we have now fixed, and a few weak spots in the corral. But now all is well, the cow and calf are back out with the herd, and the corral is now ready for the next cow and calf. And I'm sure that one of the next cows that come to the corral will test the fences again cuz that's just what they do!
